WHAT IS ROSSENDALE LIKE?

Rossendale is by the River Irwell in Lancashire. It is home to a number of small mill towns. It has a population of fewer than 75000 people and is twined with Bocholt, a German town. It belongs to the Forest of Rossendale which was given the tag during medieval times to represent a hunting reserve. Rossendale expanded during the Industrial Revolution and was named ‘The Golden Valley’. The flagstones at Trafalgar Square were quarried in Rossendale. The area has developed a sizable commuter population due to its attractive countryside and it’s fast roads connections with Manchester.
