WHAT IS CLITHEROE LIKE?

Clitheroe is a small town in the heart of the Ribble Valley. It is a place where tourists reside when visting the close by Forest of Bowland. It has a population of just under 16000 people. It is renowned for it’s castle and being the smallest Norman keep in Britain. Numerous manufacturing companies have their sites in Clitheroe. Its name is said to be derived from the Anglo-Saxon for “Rocky Hill”. Legend has it that an evil spirit drowns a traveller once every seven years near the stepping stones across the River Ribble.
