WHAT IS PLYMOUTH LIKE?

Plymouth is enclosed by the river Tamar and Plym. It is a port city located in Devon which has a population of just under 270,000. Its history dates back to the Bronze Age where the first settlement appeared at Mount Batten and was used a trading post during the Roman Empire. Plymouth grew during the Industrial Revolution due to its commercial shipping port. It used to export plenty of minerals. During the Second World War, it was partially destroyed by the Germans during the Plymouth Blitz. It is the second largest City after Bristol in the South West. It remains strong in the shipbuilding and seafaring industry and HMNB Devonport is the largest operational naval base in Western Europe.
