WHAT IS TORQUAY LIKE?

Torquay is a seaside town based in Devon. It has a population of just over 65,000 people. The economy was based around agriculture and fishing, but became popular with members of the Royal Navy during the Napoleonic Wars as a fashionable seaside town. It later became popular with the Victorians and due to its mild climate in relation to the UK, was dubbed the English Riviera. A plaque dedicated to Agatha Christie lies there as she was born and lived in the area during her early years.
